Great Tamar Gig Race Chairman's thanks

‘’I wish to thank everyone in the club who was involved in making last Saturday’s race from Cotehele to Saltash such a great success. It was very much John Pearce’s baby and he did a tremendous job, but he would be the first to admit that it could not have been organised and run so well without the tremendous help and support given by so many club members. It’s one thing to run a regatta from your home base but a very different matter running it away from home and starting at one venue and finishing at another – the number of people involved was huge and everyone did a superb job.

Finally, although our Mens & Ladies crews did not collect any trophies this year, they did the club proud, rowing their hearts out and turning in excellent times. Well done to all of you and thank you also to the ladies vets squad who made sure Ginette was always in the right place at the right time and to the guys who collected and returned ‘Spirit of Rame’. I know the logistics for both tasks were complex.

Overall I believe it was a great success despite the weather and the feedback I am getting supports that view – a proud day for all of us.

Bob Turner’’
